The brand new A-Level History course comprises three units of study, which are:

  • Unit 2: Depth Study: The Cold War, 1945-1991

  • Unit 3: Historical Investigation (Coursework)

Unit 1 offers a fascinating opportunity to learn about a key period in Britain’s history because the British Empire has shaped the cultural diversity we find in British society today. We study the empire from a variety of perspectives making it a relevant and holistic topic that evaluates the causes and consequences of the British Empire for both the former colonies and Britain.

Unit 2 takes an in-depth look at how ideological differences impacted upon every continent in the world after the Second World War. Many historians are beginning to argue that the Cold War has recently re-started and by studying this topic you will understand modern day relations between Russia and the West, as well as proxy conflicts such as the Syrian Civil War.

Unit 3 is a 4500 research project on a topic of your choice - examples include the Ottoman Empire, the Rise of Sparta and the Florentine Renaissance.
