Information for Students

All students have access to a planned careers curriculum throughout their time at Hendon. The programme focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required for each individual student regardless of their aspirations.

Personal Guidance:

At Hendon School, personal guidance is at the heart of our careers provision. Mrs Mohammad is our Level 6 trained Careers Advisor.

Students are supported in a variety of different ways:

  • Year 10 have group sessions based on general aspirations e.g. law, medicine or apprenticeships

  • Year 11 students have 1:2:1 Guidance meetings

  • Year 12 (level 2 students) have 1:2:1 Guidance meetings

  • Students with EHCP’s meet with Mrs Mohammad as part of their Annual Review.

All students can attend drop-in sessions at break or lunchtimes, every Wednesday and Thursday. They can pop in to the office of email MohammadS@hendonschool.co.uk if they want to book a longer appointment.

Parents are also welcome to attend the careers appointment and can contact Mrs Mohammad to arrange.

Our aim is to ensure all learners feel confident, prepared, and empowered to take their next steps into further education, training, or employment.

Students are encouraged to take part in on-line work experience. Recommended sites include:

As well as academic achievement, it is important for students to develop a range of employability skills. These include teamwork, problem solving, creativity, listening, speaking, leadership, adaptability, and planning. Skills Builder helps students become confident, employable, and future-ready.

Don’t forget – you are required to remain in education or employment with training until your 18th birthday!
