Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance

Attendance affects attainment.  All students should aim to achieve a minimum of 97% attendance.  In the case of any absences, parents are asked to notify the school administration team immediately and the absence must be explained by a letter from parents on the student’s return to school.

Research suggests that seventeen days (3.5 weeks) missed from school equates to a GCSE grade and that a child will not achieve their potential at school.

Punctuality

Being punctual is an important life skill and we insist that pupils arrive to school and each lesson on time.  Pupils who are late to their lessons will receive a 15 minutes detention from their teacher.  An accumulation of 3 lates to school or lessons in a week will result in a 90 minute detention which will take place on Friday after school.
