Hendon School is a large Convertor Academy with over 1,250 students including a vibrant Sixth Form. Established in 1914, the school provides an exceptional all-round education for our students. In recent years, our GCSE results place us amongst the highest achieving schools in Barnet, with outstanding value added.
Hendon School is a family – albeit a very large and diverse family – and we celebrate that. 63% of our students do not have English as their first language. 46% of our students receive free school meals and we have a high percentage of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Despite what some people might perceive as challenges we are stronger because of our differences and because of the way that we work together to achieve. Students are part of a thriving learning community where everyone is valued. We have an established tradition of excellent teaching and learning and of providing the very best development opportunities.
The school has a range of accreditations, including International School Award, London Schools Gold Club status, National Citizen Service Champion School and the School Travel Award. We are keen to learn from others but also share our outstanding progress.
We foster a culture of ambition, ensuring all of our students make rapid and sustained progress. Our students leave school prepared for the challenges of adult life and ready to make a valuable contribution to society. Many of whom return each year to support the next generation of Hendon students.
